They made Too Human with Microsoft, which I'm pretty sure bombed critically and sales wise. Then they went to Activision and made X-Men: Destiny and that was a disaster of a title. Point is I loved Eternal Darkness, but it is clear that Silicon Knights got desperate after two major bombs and tried to drum up support and the crowd funding effort failed while being plagued by bad press about reports within the studio and people who run it. At this stage I'd rather someone else try to mimic the best elements of Etenral Darkness and Silicon Knights just go away. |
Even really good developers make duds here and there:
High Voltage (developed Injustice and MKX) -- see all the shovelware they made before
Telltale (Walking Dead) -- see all the CSI
Platinum Games (Bayonetta and others) -- Legend of Korra
There's probably a very good reason the likes Miyamoto and Kojima thought highly enough of the team to work with them in the first place.
I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016
