I think the Inklings are pretty popular, but I'm not sure they're the most this gen. Actually, I don't think it's possible to determine the most popular character from a gen before it's over - in fact I can't even think who was the most popular from last gen.

Its obvious who's #1 last gen. Its the Mii's. Whats second is arguable though as there's many candidates. (Ex: Nathan/Rosalina)

Not so obvious, but Steve from Minecraft (how many people know that's his name in the first place) is probably the most popular character from last gen:

forgot about him, i dunno i think he's up there (at the very top) but characters like Nathan Drake despite nowhere near in sales is more popular... But thats arguable. Steve could take the crown


Nongamers know who Steve is. Non gamers don't know who Nathan Drake is, snd the Mii's aren't characters imo.
