XCX does look like a major AAA release, it sold 120k and it might do an extra 10-15k lifetime (Sold to retailers + Digital). They are probably banking more on US sales, that said its one of those franchises thats bound to lose money.
Reguarding Splatoon, its supposedly a budget title (well at least didnt cost much too make) which im hearing all over the place, alot of people didn't expect the game to do well but it looks like it will beat many expectations, at least in japan. 120k shipped already got some people surprised.
