This is a trick question. My answer is The X-men. I know that doesn't really make sense but them as a whole, their issues, the characters within, everything about them I love.
Now breaking it down a bit more to actual individuals.
Heroes:
Machine Man - Actual android, trying to be human. Unlike the synthetic AIs like Ultron or Vision, his AI is true AI. His depiction in Nextwave was a little odd and it was carried on for some reason but I still have a fascination with anything AI... mainly because writers know nothing about it and get it wrong every time. :P
Captain Britain - Because he's Britain. :P Also, I like the mythology around him. Him and Meggan are a great due. if you can, you should read Alan Moore's Captain Britain work.
Iceman - He's one of the few remaining true good guys left. So many kill or do questionable things to get ahead. He is honest, unselfish and does what he can even if his subconsious is holding his powers back from become godlike.
Professor Xavier - even though in the comics he portrayed as secretive, underhanded or shady, he does nearly everything he does for the greater good and has helped so many people.
Are we allowed villains?
EDIT: Id' actually like to know how many people know who X-statix are.
Edit: Oh and Rogue.
Hmm, pie.
