While it didn't ruin the game for me, I did hate the ending.

What's funny is it they chopped off the last 5 mins, it would of been a better ending lol

I liked the ending tbh. It was very human and in line with the atmosphere of the rest of the game. It's not like they were gonna drive off into the sunset after an ordeal like that. This isn't a happy story and I think that any sort of extended ending after what was shown (happy or not) would have been superficial. Joel fucked over the world for himself because he could not stand to lose another daughter figure. Ellie has survivor's guilt and accepts that Joel lied because she does not want to give up his company either. Any more canon would have subtracted from the impact.
