Agreed. 'Fails to reliably overlap with the mainstream gaming market' does not mean 'dead'. Nintendo has managed to carve out an audience of there own of considerable size.
I'm just a little worried that once they're gone, Nintendo will realise they haven't been amassing enough of a newer audience to replace them :(
