I must be mistaken , but wasn't it her bf who asked our opinions. No there is a difference between giving your opinion and attacking the person for having a certain characteristic. You guys were attack her for not being "hot" the correct thing to do is to just tell her that you didn't believe she was 'hot' and moved on.
