I think you're greatly understimating the costs of going 4k. As it is right now you need to Sli/Crossfire to run demanding, current-gen, games at 4k 30fps. That is - current games with their current asset quality. One would expect better lighting, replacement of textures with geometry, etc next generation which will make this an even more difficult endeavor. Expect 1440p/1600p upscaled (maximum) next generation, don't expect 4k. You'll be dissapointed. As it is now, consoles struggle to hit their 1080p 30fps target.
