I don't hear too many people arguing about how terrible the Wii U games were visually, even dating back to 2012 (even considering the competition at the time was 7th gen hardware); they simply aren't industry leading, not that this has been a primary or even major selling point for Nintendo since maybe the SNES.
Make no mistake: the Wii U is perfectly capable hardware, but capable generally doesn't translate into high praise and marketing bullets in the visual department.
