I think NX is an entirely new ecosystem for Nintendo games platforms and system software.

It'll have options for gamers, offering a handheld, entry level machine in the beginning, but Nintendo will add newer, more powerful versions over time.
Their software will work across the entire ecosystem, with a unified API that allows for easy scaling of game features.
One OS for everything.

I think Nintendo has eluded to this in their desires to provide something similar to how Apple handles their hardware, but software works on everything.
Maybe there will be some games that only work on the higher end platforms within Nintendo's hardware family, but all of the mobile titles and up will work on all of the higher end systems.

I think Dena solves Nintendo's issues with their online, I'm pretty sure one of the things they're really good at is handling Net Code and Online Infrastructure, both of which would be important to this.
