This. Its getting painful to watch random executives pander to a crowd for applause they don't want to give. Not to mention jokes that flop, awkward 'stage demos' and terrible pacing that makes the show drag on. The E3 digital event is compact, informative, and the trailers they show are HD. Plus they are not interrupted in the middle of the trailer to go to a camera that pans out over the crowd.

What's going to happen if they return to a conference form next year when they show off NX? Will it be okay then. This is based off my assumption that they'll return to conference form to show off a new console. I mean, do you really want a direct to show off a brand new console?

I'd have no issue if they did another digital event for it. Most likely there won't be playable demos or kiosks ready until 2017 or even a confirmed console design or name. Even then I'd be ok with it because it means that the demos and trailers look at their best.
