It's not really Sony's fault. The fact is ever since the HD era games are costing a lot more to make, not making as much money, and are just harder to make in general. During the PS2 era you can churn out triple AAA masterpieces for $10-20 million. Today that's barely above indie development costs!
This is why so many companies are gone now: THQ, Eidos, Konami, Capcom, Sega.... and a ton more.
The thing is the PS4 doesn't have to have killer app exclusives to sell. Look how it's selling now. Sony doesn't need to worry AT ALL.
