I believe that them not including BC saves them some money but at the same time they also know that by doing this it allows them to charge users for games on their previous system and slap a little coat of paint on it or none at all and so far it's worked and now people are more or less "who cares about BC", well enough of them to drown out those that do care about BC because we're now into the 2nd gen of no BC and nothing has been changed much so it;s probably safe to say if there's a next gen the same will happen.
This is why I'm more or less fine with gaming primarily on PC first because the majority of my games will work for years and years, having an upressed remake is nice and isn't as harmful to me since I've got one system that I built and I don't need to worry about justifying my system since I;ve already got countless games on it and it's more or less always going to be BC, for the consoles I'd say BC is a must at least for me and it's why Wii U gets my favour first, the other two I find it hard to justify buying one just yet because there's already little they offer me and it's mostly been remakes and remasters to try justifying themselves for not having no BC and I find that a negative reason to buy a system like that.
Mankind, in its arrogance and self-delusion, must believe they are the mirrors to God in both their image and their power. If something shatters that mirror, then it must be totally destroyed.
