No, the point was that Driveclub got free content updates post launch and that those didn't fend of the criticism of lack of content at launch and that the game didn't get extra points for the free updates either.

The criticism I heard the most was poor online during the launch period, poor AI and oversaturated genre (i.e it didn't bring anything new to the table).
