That's not really the point. No one argues that the deflated balls are the reason the Patriots won that game its the principle of the action. Despite the outcome of the game the fact that the Patriots purposely deflated balls to give themselves an unfair advantage is enough to warrant these penalties. If the NFL said "Welp the Patriots would have won anyway lets not penalize them even though they were clearly breaking the rules" that would be completley unfair. I mean why else would there be rulesssss. Also if the NFL let this slide then whats stopping the Patriots from doing this again and having it affect an actual close game.
