Honestly, I don't get all the hate for Sonic Boom. I've played both games back to back, and enjoyed myself while playing them. Where they the best Sonic games? No. Were they good games. No... Were they really Sonic games... Sheesh, shouldn't ask myself such difficult questions. But the BOOM games were definitely not the worst games ever made. They worked. And they made me think back of all those mediocre PS2/Gamecube platformers I played as a tween. You could say the levels are a bit empty of things to do, but... as I've said: they're just mediocre games. No high budget. No big expectations. Just collecting blueprints, crystals, and other stuff.
What more, I didn't encounter a single game breaking bug. Maybe other people have, but for me it wasn't more buggy than playing Watch_Dogs or Batman Arkham Origins on WiiU (okay maybe not the BEST examples). Yes, there was some lag and screen tearing, but not even as bad as the other two games I mentioned.
Anyways, I'm not saying the BOOM games were great, only that I enjoyed them. Yes, I bought both of them... but I also bought Bayonetta 2 (and 1), the Wonderful 101, ZombiU, Sonic Lost World, Raymand Legends, etc. on WiiU. I just like playing games on my Nintendo systems and I am happy some publishers are (were) still making them, other than Nintendo.
You may think Sonic Boom is indicative of what is wrong with the games biz, but I'm just happy that some pubishers are (were) willing to create non-tripple A games with their franchises that aren't mobile titles. AAA is a tricky bussiness, and we've seen many publishers go under because of the risks involved.
I'd rather try play a B game (50-60% rating) than see yet another publisher go under because of the AAA business. I enjoyed Sonic Boom and I'm happy it did moderately well.
LET THE HATING COMENCE! XD
