Super Mario Galaxy had something like 42 worlds and lasted about 40 hours for the average player. If Splatoon's single player had the equivalent replayabiity for its levels, then that would be somewhere between 20-30 hours of single player. That's about three times longer than a Call of Duty single player. 

40 is only if you completly 100% the game (all 242 stars) meaning replaying the game for challenge stars and replaying again with luigi.  the game itself is only about 8 hours.  

if the single player level i saw was represenitive of the entire campain mode it will probably take about ~4 hours to complete.
