This is a good first step, but Nintendo should absolutely make having its own theme park an end goal. No doubt about that.
I was planning to make a massive five thread series last year about how Nintendo could remain relevant and expand in the future. I'm seriously upset now that I procrastinated to long, because one full thread was goin to be dedicated to building a theme park to raise brand awareness, and I was going to talk about how partnering with Disney wouldn't be the best course of action and how going solo or partnering with Universal at first would be the best first step.
Now I can't say that I said it first. Don't procrastinate, kids.
