The problem is that E3 and Gamescom are too close to each other, even more than ever this year with E3 being a week later and GC a week earlier than usual. Thats only 1.5 months between those 2.
Imo Sony done the right thing, the announcements should be spread out more, 1 big show every half a year, while PSX should be for promoting games that are coming out soon in Q1/Q2 or teasers for full reveals 6 month later at E3.
