Main point is Whedon really wanted the farm scenes and Marvel really wanted the Thor cave scenes leading to back and forth. I like Whedon, but I understand getting burned out on massive films like this. Hope Cap 2 guys do Avengers 3 justice. |
I will happily admit to not liking Whedon, I think he's a hack most the time. His X-men was awful and cliched beyond comprehension, his Runaways was an insult and delayed hugely and his 'special ending' to Civil War was awful. What frustrates me more is people worship the guy...
Reading this is very telling I think. To be honest I don't know what he expected, Spider-man, they said no but it wasn't like Marvel had any choice with the Spider-man one, that was part of contract and only early this year did Sony give in. Can't say on the Cap M thing, not sure how she'd fit in with the movie, yet he wanted Cap M but wasn't willing to fit in Hank Pym? Weird.
Anyway, the cave scene was needed, I thought it was fine. They were right, you can't just have him disappeared and then later return having done things and just tell them what he saw, it's not a book or comic, you need to show the audience what is going on. Yet it would have been great to see Loki in the visions or the extension of Quicksilver's scenes would have given his character more substance.
Hmm, pie.
