The community greenlight works for the most part. Sure, you'll get a few pieces of crap like this that get greenlit and rapidly reported for breaking whatever terms and conditions the devs need to sign up to, but for the most part the games have a small but significant fanbase or community willing to pay, play and enjoy the game.
I would rather have this system of devs getting their game out to players by interacting with their potential customers than the old school system of platform overlords dictating everything and potentially stopping interesting titles from ever seeing the light of day due to technicalities.
