I only pay attention to good games be it AAA games from 2015 or games from the 70's. I'm 35 and I've been gaming so long that when I started out, NES wasn't even on the market yet. I've seen the industry slowly start morphing into this machine where shipping AAA games both incomplete and broken is the norm. It's bullshit and it shouldn't happen.

I remember hearing a recent interview with former Sega of America genius Tom Kalinske where he was asked what he thinks about today's industry and he said that the thing that surprised him the most was the fact that these publishers were shipping unfinished games and getting away with it. He said that back when he was in charge, no one ever allowed it and it wouldn't have happened on his clock. That's exactly how I feel it should still be.

And please... don't attempt to push Axiom Verge and games like Uncharted, Halo or COD into the same space. One is geniue, one is not. One is created by gamers (usually less than a few guys), the other is created by suits. Indie games (the good ones) are love letters to the people who buy them... not just paychecks for CEOs.

You're an old guy, its time to accept it does happen and people will buy games regardless. This is a reason I avoid playing games at launch and I rarely pay full price. Regardless, still fun to be had.

Tom Kalinske was around when expectations in gaming were a lot lower. I'm sure a lot of mediore games were released on his watch as well.

You obviously jumped into this thread to piss and moan about popular AAA games. I feel games like Uncharted, Halo, and CoD are ambitious and have been IPs that inspired other great games. Indie games like Axiom Verge are fine, while a game like Axiom Verge is primarily just a mish mash of old ideas.
