I'll repost, a bit more detailed:
Wasteland 2 ~ $3mil on KS, 81 Meta, ~ 415K owners on Steam @ $40
Pillars of Eternity ~ $4mil on KS, 90 Meta ~ 350K owners on Steam @$45
Torment: Tides of Numenera ~ $4.2mil on KS, expecting similar Meta and Steam sales as Pillars
These are all cRPGs, all made by people from Interplay's Black Isle/Bioware Infinity Engine wave back in late 90s, all success stories...nevertheless, I really don't expect any big publisher to suddenly realize there is, however niche, market for cRPGs and suddenly start making them, even under their pet/art/nostalgia/whateveryouliketocallit projects division.
Maybe it's different story with 3D platformers, since they've always had more mainstream appeal, but I would hold my breath for now.
