The main issue here has never really been "can these games make money", it's been "can they make more money than these other, big budget games"? And the answer is no, except when that big budget game flops horribly and the company loses millions.

Games like Halo, Call of Duty, and Uncharted would scoff at Yooka-Laylee's paltry $1 million in 24 hours.

And Mario laughs at Halo and Uncharted.

I love it how people try to spin this KS project as underwhelming.

How much would people pay for spiritual successors of those games? Not much. ;)
