I think his point is not the Wii U is strong, but that the demo isn't very impressive.  And it isn't.  Digital Foundry has his back on that as well.  It's 720p, locked 30fps, no AA, polygon issues throughout, modest textures on anything that isn't slammed up against the camera, and the cherry on top is the fact that this is one isolated room with two animated characters.  This technical demonstration only has two things going for it really:  shaders and lighting.  Everything else may be pretty in presentation, but nothing special.  Even the particle effects are nothing special, just well done.  Bayonetta 2 beats it for sure if nothing else.  It accomplishes excellent visuals that match that demo but at a much higher framerate.
