Well if PS4 maintains it's current pace it can only mean good things for Sony. A slim model that would afford them a nice price drop at this critical moment can cement their lead permanently
If PS grabs 50/60/70% marketshare this gen.....will we see a return of PS2 era support from Mid tier 3rd parties?
rIt has been my belief that 3rd party's unsure-ness of where the market was going and then pulling into Multiplatform camp is one of the driving reason of ailing profits and developer struggling. Sticking to fewer console is the more affordable route for indies and Mid Tier game developers., at least for original release. I would love to see more smaller teams of developers able to release games and only having to concentrate on a single platform but still being able to appease a publisher's fear of userbase reach would actually be healthy for the gaming industry.
I think we might already be starting to see this happening with games like Spider's Bound by Flame, and Ninja Theory's Hell Blade, Small independent teams who can actually release their games because they aren't forced to bring them to every console imaginable, which would mean it would need to sell even more just to break even when that is never assured by simil multiplatform release.
