You guys got nothing on the Elder Scrolls fandom. Every single game since Morrowind has been decried as the downfall of the franchise. When Morrowind released, Daggerfall fans were livid with hatred. Morrowind was a watered down mess designed to appeal to casual mainstream gamers. No TRUE TES fan would even think of calling it a true TES game. And when Oblivion released, Morrowind fans were livid with hatred. Oblivion was a watered down mess designed to appeal to casual mainstream gamers. No TRUE TES fan would even think of calling it a true TES game. And when Skyrim released many Oblivion fans were livid with hatred. Skyrim was a watered down mess designed to appeal to casual mainstream gamers. No TRUE TES fan would even think of calling it a true TES game.
It's all preposterous white noise, a bunch of sound and furry signifying nothing, and each new entry adds its own peculiar din to the cacophony. If it wasn't for the unification brought on by the far more levelheaded modding community, the TES fandom would probably be one of the most toxic on the internet.
Actually, I find that this kind of divisiveness is par for the course with any franchise that makes major changes every entry. Oh well, I enjoy the ride and that's enough for me. Constant iterativeness can get boring.
