I kind of took from the review that he considered the "big step back" to be the loss of the "snaking" turbo boost as now "anyone can turbo because it's just a powerslide". He did mention the rubberband AI as a problem, but I took from the review that he didn't think that was as big a deal as the loss of snaking.
I'm off to gamestop in about 30 minutes to pre-order it. So there.
I fully agree that driving skill comes first, always. I suspect no amount of luck will allow a mediocre player to consistently beat an excellent player in MK:Wii. If that is indeed the case, then why the bitchin' by all the reviewers?
