A much faster way to raise affinity is to fight against a unique monster that causes knockdown, sleep or unconsciousness when they get attacked. Stay out of attack range with your main character, because otherwise you'll get paralyzed too. Now run back and forth between your allies and help them out of their negative status effect with a button press; each time you do this, it nets two hearts. Reviving allies also raises affinity, and your eventual death with this strategy has no penalty because you get to keep all the affinity points. Another benefit of this strategy is that it works with any character combination, so you don't have to figure out who likes which gifts. And it obviously can be repeated as often as you please without any need for preparations; unlike gift-giving which requires you to collect stuff. |
But you collect lots of items anyway, might as well but them to good use. A low affinity can be usefull, though. It's a good way to get better crystals to make weapon gems.
