Playable betas and/or demos are the one bonus I would personally accept. Instances like Mortal Kombat X made it feel like you were punished for not pre-ordering the game, instead of being rewarded for doing so. I'm not sure I agree with the day 1 statement however, as I do not think there is a shortage of copies available on launch day. Unless of course you live in a supply constrained region, in which case I detract my statement.

Sure they know what they want; I'm not trying to take away anyone's freedom of choice. But sometimes what the product they want is not what they receive at launch. I'm not so sure devs receiving revenue or the promise of sales right away is a good thing. If they have the guaranteed sales, and the ability to hold off reviews until after launch, not every dev is going to do the right thing.

Well in my case I don't go to game stores (wouldn't even know where the local ones are), I always order online. So yeah if I wait until release day to order then there is no chance it will arrive that same day.

Honestly, I'd say people not being happy with the game they preordered is their own fault rather than the devs. Maybe I just have lower expectations than everyone else though since I'm very rarely if ever disappointed with a game.

Hmmmm ok. Not much I can say to that.

Yes it is their fault haha pretty much what I'm trying to get at. They are enabling the devs to do as they please. The devs don't need the final product to earn the sales, they know they can get money with promises, hype and trailers.
