Why do you love pre-ordering, and why do you think more people should preorder? The more varying opinions in this thread the better

The promise of getting it day 1 is the main reason for me. As I mentioned getting the game earlier is something I'd like more with preorders and does often happen as well. I remember last year I got Halo MCC 3 days before its release thanks to my preorder.

I think more people should preorder mainly because I'd assume they know what they want and would like to get it day 1. It would also mean devs earn more revenue straight away as well. Besides if people change their mind they can easily cancel their preorder.

Playable betas and/or demos are the one bonus I would personally accept. Instances like Mortal Kombat X made it feel like you were punished for not pre-ordering the game, instead of being rewarded for doing so. I'm not sure I agree with the day 1 statement however, as I do not think there is a shortage of copies available on launch day. Unless of course you live in a supply constrained region, in which case I detract my statement.

Sure they know what they want; I'm not trying to take away anyone's freedom of choice. But sometimes what the product they want is not what they receive at launch. I'm not so sure devs receiving revenue or the promise of sales right away is a good thing. If they have the guaranteed sales, and the ability to hold off reviews until after launch, not every dev is going to do the right thing.
