I must be really lucky because I've never been burned or put off by DLC. In-fact I've really enjoyed all my DLC (Mass Effect 2/3, DAI, MK8, Battlefield 4, FFS Ghosts, Borderlands, Dirt 3, Arkham City etc). Apart from forums I've never heard any of my friends IRL even mention DLC, let alone complain about it.

I recently bought Mortal Kombat X and I don't have have access to Tremor, Tanya or the Predator and you know what? I. Don't. Care. I heard about the paid fatalities and I. Don't. Care. It will take a while for me to master all the base characters along with all their variations. If, and that's a big if, I decide to buy the DLC it'll be dirt cheap by then.

In previous gens DLC content would be reserved for the sequels. Unless people would rather every single game gets delayed so that it can be "complete" I don't see the harm in DLC assuming its not ridiculously overpriced and it doesn't affect the balance of the game in any way.

Mass Effect DLC actually bugged me a bit. Its not that the games didn't feel worth $60, they definitely were. Just that narrative wise a lot of the DLC was more relevant then half of the missions the had you do in the $60 game. From a planning perspective Shadow Broker from ME2 and Laviathan from Me3 should have been planned to be in the game from day 1 in expense of the a lot of the trivial BS you actually run around and do. Especially Laviathan, it essentially gives history on the reapers which something they have you wondering throughout the whole trilogy, it shouldn't have been DLC IMO

But back to the point, I generally agree in terms of value. I can't remember the last game I got that didn't feel finished or wasn't worth its asking price. Even in terms of backlash, Evolve is the only game in recent memory where I recall people complaining that there wasn't enough in game content. Often people simply complain about there being DLC not about the $60 game itself being unfinished. Content wise that is, quality wise is another question *cough* Assassins Creed Unity, Halo MCC *Cough*
