Not a difficult prediction to make. No one's actually expecting the Xbone to reach Xbox 360 sales, 360 is the best supported MS platform ever and it barely made it past the PSP. Xbox is losing the market share it captured from PS last gen. Nintendos hardware business is dwindling, the 3DS has peaked, mobiles changed the handheld industry forever, the next Nintendo handheld will likely have trouble reaching even the 3DS sales. Same story with their home consoles. Nintendo consoles sold less each gen since the NES if the Wii is left out.

NES: ~61M
SNES: ~49M
N64: ~34M
GCN: ~22M
WiiU: ~16M?

I find it hysterical the way you and other Sony-posters have to pretend like the Wii didn't exist to make yourselves feel better when talking about Nintendo.  (Not that it matters to Nintendo. I'd rather profit off 22million Gamecubes than lose my shirt/break-even selling 80 million PS3's too.)  Anyway, my point is, it would be like if in every post I were to pretend the PS2 didn't exist and look at the video game industry this way:

1 Nintendo DS (DS) 57.37 52.07 33.01 12.43 154.88
2 Game Boy (GB) 43.18 40.05 32.47 2.99 118.69
3 PlayStation (PS) 38.94 36.91 19.36 9.04 102.49           ;)
4 Wii (Wii) 45.37 33.75 12.77 9.28 101.17

You're right.  Ignoring the existence of one entire product really does put a different spin on the industry.

To further emphasise my point. We don't pretend the Wii didn't exist. The Wii was an anomaly when you consider Nintendo consoles sold less with each gen. The hardcore Nintendo fanbase even decreased during the Wii gen because the Wii U is selling less than the Gamecube, which leads me to believe the actual Nintendo fanbase that bought the Wii was somewhere between the GCN and Wii U. No way did it increase over GCN and then took such a massive dive gen over gen. It is obvious where the bulk of the Wii install base came from and where it went.
