They made an example of him. I'm not big on "making examples" in court when it comes to peoples lives, but there is nothing that can be done.

He didn't pay his taxes. His tax guys told him the taxes were unconstituational. He knew better, but he still got what, 3 years in prison for it? Overkill. Nonviolent crimes like not paying taxes should be dealt with through fines and restrictions, maybe even probation, but certainly not 3 years hard time in a federal penal insitution.
