By pretending to be third party (even making such games for years), they can push the Wii in a way that doesn't make it look as though it's just Nintendo from benefiting from the Wii. So other third parties will look at their games and try harder, since they don't have the Nintendo excuse anymore.
Or so they think.
It's the perfect scam.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
