The game is perfect for today's gaming culture of mass social media consumption. Half the fun of the game is watching others play and react to it, which puts it in a perfect position where so many of today's gamers participate in LetsPlays through Twitch and YouTube. Despite it being a single player game, it lends itself to be a community based experience.
We're at a time where gamers are spending as much time watching others play games as they play games themselves. Five Nights at Freddy's came at the perfect time in the ever changing gaming culture, and is now reaping the benefits.
