Oh come on, you can't tell me that you're seriously expecting them to announce a home console in 2016 and release it in the same year.

Sony announced a home console in 2013 (Teaser: January 31st, Announcement: February 20th) and released it in the same year (November 15th).

Microsoft announced a home console in 2013 (Leak: January 21st, Announcement: May 21st) and released it in the same year (November 22th).

Nintendo announced a handheld console in 2010 (Announcement: March 23rd) and released it 11 months later (February 26th).

So why should it be impossible for Nintendo to release a home console the same year they announce it? If they announce it too early, there is always the risk of the Osborne effect.
