500k lifetime sales may not even cover the marketing which for a lower budget game (compared to their AAA titles)  can easily run as much as the cost of the game itself and may even be double dev cost 

500,000×$40=$20,000,000

U really think the development+marketing budget is over $20,000,000 for a small game like this?
