She got body swapped with a Japanese villiain and her original body was killed leaving her trapped in a Japanese woman's body after all comics are very, very weird especially the x-men.

It doesn't matter what her name sounds like. Her body is Japanese and has been for the majority of the comics. It's how that character looks.

Elizabeth Braddock (Psylocke) was first introduced in 1976 were she was 100% white British till a 1992/3 storyline when her mind got swapped into a Japanese body.

As the next X-men film is set in the 80's having her be white is right.
