hey guys, im going to try to keep this as short as possible, but i want you guys to know all the details.

so i have this friend, who we all call chav, and i would say he is my best friend. he comes over probably 2 to 3 times a week and we like to drink beer, watch baseball, and play video games. since baseball season started, we usually use the xbox one to watch the games, and then we keep the wii u on so the amiibos can fight.

its basically me and my wife who live here by ourselves, and this guy is the only friend i have who ever comes over. and no, he isnt my only friend because im just a rotten asshole like most of you might guess. i am 26 and finishing up three degrees, so i dont hang out with a bunch of friends like i used to.

so thats all the backstory, now here is where the weird stuff starts kicking in. we are bored one night (this year) and we are figuring out what game to play, and i was like, "well i still have mario 3D world i still need to 100%" i look for the game and its fucking gone. i immediately knew what happened. i knew he stole my game. fast forward to this morning, and i have a wild hair to count my amiibos. 4 are missing, and i knew that he took them out of my house.

ok, so you might be wondering, how can i be sure it was him aside from the fact that he is the only other person who ever comes over? well, i have another good friend who has a group of friends who gets together and plays mario kart wii at least once a week. chav is someone they invite over because he really likes mario kart. well one time, he took a wii, metal gear solid 5 (it had literally just come out that week), and a 360 controller with black thumbsticks. he comes in the next morning and sells it at the store i work at. my friend had told me that he suspected chav of stealing these things, and i confirmed that i had all the things that were missing. so clearly he does this kind of thing.

so what should i do guys? first of all, what do you think i could do to get my game and my four amiibos back? i really would like to have them. just so you guys know it was samus, luigi, kirby, and yoshi. nothing that is really a big deal, considering i have all of them. three out of the four of those i know he doesnt have, so thats a possbile motive. anyway, what should i do? :/

i know a lot of you would suggest to never have him over again and declare ourselves as not friends anymore, but i think close human relationships are a little more complicated than that. first of all, i kind of feel bad for him. i think he has a problem, and i do genuinely care about him and would like him to not be like this anymore. also, i would like to have my stuff back, so any ideas on how i could go about that would be appreciated. this sucks so much ass.

Well.... I guess he's not your friend and likely never was if he is willing to steal stuff of yours. It's not like you guys are 5 and he doesn't fully grasp the concept...

What can you do? Likely rarely have him over, or if you do, ensure he is always supervised. Of course you are going to need to confront him on it and see his reaction on it as well, he might make the decision for you. I get that you consider him your best friend, but that doesn't mean that he considers you a good friend, or friend at all. If he is a kelpto then he does need help, but it's still weird that he would be willing to steal from "friends" as in most circumstances these people will try not to steal from people they are close to.

The great thing about the complexity of human relationships is that in many cases the best ones are the easiest. Close friends do seem to be a dying breed though as today's society is so distant and relies on social media which actually cuts people out more than it invites people in. Also, through all that, some people loose the ability to interact with others in meaningful ways.

As I said, you should likely talk to him about it, but before you do, ENSURE that HE is the ONLY one that has been to your house.

Best of luck.

Gotta figure out how to set these up lol.
