if the wii competed with ps2 and the wiiu competed with ps3 and 360 then probably it would have done well but still it wouldn't have been that big

wii was just a hit because ps3 was priced too high and sony delayed it.

Wii was just just a hit because of the ps3 price tag, really you're being serious?

Wii was a hit because it offered something completely new and innovative which could be enjoyed by entire families. It was a hit because of motions controls and Wi Sports. Not because they couldn't afford a ps3. Besides Xbox 360 was already on the market for some but that didn't stop people from getting a Wii either. You've got to remember most people didn't yet have a HDTV anyway, that factor became relevent only later.

Sure the high price of ps3 might have helped a little bit but you're selling the Wii short here. Everyone wanted a Wii when it was released, regardless of what was going on with ps3.

if you were following gaming last decade, you would know how big the Playstation brand was after PS2.there is no way Playstation went from 1st with 70% marketshare with PS2 to 2nd place with PS3 and just bombing initially with PS3.

Wii was big but it wouldn't have reached the same place if PS3 was $299 or $399 by any chance

Wii would have reached 50million to 80million range but nowhere near the 100 million it reached because it was the cheapest console
