People who can fairly be said to be "gamers" as opposed to a casual madden/cod type are, in my experience, far more respectful towards women than your average man. Obviously that's just what I've personally seen, but I never bought that gamers were a sexist bunch.

Probably cause most of them would be fairly intimidated by a woman, lol.

Most "nerdy" social circles aren't exactly swimming with women.

I don't think the game industry is overly sexist, but the protrayl of women in games is (like the comic book industry) hyper-sexualized to appeal more towards males. Especially males who maybe don't get to interact with attractive looking women in their day to day life.

Most people in "nerdier" social circles like Star Wars fans, Star Trek fans, video game hardcore, etc. I'd agree are "nicer" guys though in real life.

But I don't think a game makes someone racist, sexist, etc. They either already have those attitudes going into playing a game or they don't.
