Srry but Amiibo is suppose to be bonus content, and collecting them is also its purpose. Collect your favorite character, use in game. (SSB promoted this heavily.

Then your point has a hole in it with the upcoming AC house game with amiibo cards. I really dont see that as collectibles but more as bonus content.

I do understand where your coming from though, but i think having bonuses that dont effect the game is ok.

SSB= Good Use

MK8= Good Use

HW= Ok Use

CS= Ok Use

MP10= Bad Use (but to their defense they have the game at $50 with a $60 sku that comes with an amiibo)

Captain Toad= Ok Use (doesnt hurt at all, just visuals)

Kirby= Good Use

Yoshi Wolly World= Good Use

Splatoon= Bad Use (this one kinda depends, but for the sake of it i'll put bad)

All Japanese only games= Good Use

 Point is, amiibo's are used as bonus content. Just as long as it doesn't effect the game whatsoever, then its fine.

I wouldn't mind most of this if there was just an alternative. The costumes in MK8 can't have been expensive to make. I want all of them, but I don't want any of the amiibo. It bothers me that I can't just buy just the costumes wholesale. If I want all of them, I have to buy like $100+ worth of amiibo. All so that someone who spent $12 on one can feel nice about their purchase. To me, that's amiibo done completely wrong. Same with Kirby, the amiibo exclusive items in HW, etc.

If the cards in animal crossing are cheap, I see no problem with it. My biggest issue comes from the fact that the value proposition is destroyed when you factor in the fact that there are people that value the content more than the amiibo, but have to pay the $10 for the amiibo anyway. Like I said, if Nintendo release a card set with every Smash Character Amiibo in card form for like $15-$20, I wouldn't care, because I'd be buying them purely for the content they offer across multiple games while not paying an unreasonable amount more for the physical product I'm not remotely interested in. Release a Splatoon card booster pack with 3 cards for $3-4, maybe even $5, and I'm far more inclined to consider buying it without feeling like I'm being exploited.

But the prices for Amiibo because absolutely rediculus when you look at it from a content perspective, which many people now have to.
