I believe there's a problem because I find sexual harassment on video game forums and in online gaming unacceptable. I find threats of violence, rape, and death against any person, man or woman, unacceptable. And I find the propagation of centuries old sexual stereotypes unacceptable. |
Sexism is a little too much of generalized term "one size fits all" in my opinion. It lumps everything from gender roles to rape into a confusing mess. Gender roles or sexual stereotypes is open to debate whether it's bad at all if people can swap roles at a whim. I'm completely fine with anyone wanting to go the more traditional route or go for a more modern lifestyle. People should be able to do that without judgement from others in spite of political agendas.
Sexual harashment and rape is a different story. Those are a world wide problem and should be addressed in that setting. I disagree with any people trying to turn video games into some kind of battleground to fight sexual harashment and rape. It's not appropriate or the place for it.
