I know what you mean, but imagine a legend of zelda trailer where Link is basically legolas, that's cool for the mainstream market. I think that Nintendo has a lot of cool stuff, but the portrayal is not so cool. A new AAA IP  would help too, but again, the portrayal is what matters for the hype.

Outside of a few IP how do u expect Nintendo to make their games "cool"? How do they make Kirby, Yoshi, Mario Party, Captain Toad, Donkey Kong appeal to the mainstream crowd?
