Take a look at the price of mainline Pokemon games the last few generations for example
GBA-$29.99
DS-$34.99
3DS-$39.99
The price for these titles has been growing yet the series hasn't declined during these generations. Pokemon Ruby/Sapphire, Diamond/Pearl, Black/White, X/Y are all (or will be) in the 15-18 million range when going by Nintendo's official shipments. So a jump I'm price isn't likely to hurt sales.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
