If every game is on two unified consoles, going by the theory everyone has now with the game having superior graphics on the console and scaled down on the handheld, that means the dozens of handheld games that would have come out if the two were seperate all of a sudden need a lot more work for the scaled up console version.  This is gonna significantly cut their game output.

Scaling a game up/down between two extremely similar devices is much easier than making two seperate games for two completely different devices.

Nintendo has historically averaged about 25 published games per year, maybe that drops down to 18-20, that's still better than 12 per device.
