"As it stands now, it will most likely be closer to 10% at the end of gen" Not gonna happen. the current ltd would take long to become 10% if left as it is but it will obviously keep selling. "I haven't mentioned handhelds in the first place, but that's rapidly shrinking market" It's not a rapidly shrinking market. you need to present a reason as to why you think that. And in case you didn't notice, the 3ds is on track to be the best selling platform of the gen, maaaybe it will be second (handheld and home consoles). how can you consider that as having less relevancy? |
Somehow I don't think Nintendo will keep WiiU alive for too long - and at pace it sells now, it will be lucky to reach GC numbers...eventually, it might be 15% and not 10%...but still as terrible after Wii's success.
As for handheld market - looking at this 2 charts is all the reason anyone needs (if reasonable, that is) to see how much it's shrinking:

As I said already, Nintendo is very relevant in dedicated HH market, it's just that market is becoming more and more irrelevant cause of mobile...but given that they're getting into that as well, I don't see them having problems there.
On the other hand I see home consoles market as completely different beast, with wildly different taste...and that's where Nintendo is loosing ground.
