| Pavolink said: You are talking about going western, not mainstream. Uncharted will never compare to the mainstream games like Wii Sports, Mario Kart Wii or Wii Fit. Your point was going western, and that was Metroid Prime. Why do you think MP3 Corruption is more based on battles than puzzles? Why do you think you have a large crew rather than solitary games like the first 2? Why do you think there were a lot of cutscenes in Other M? Even this last game tried to appeal to the western audience. Unfortunately, execution and not being a third person shooter make it impossible to achieve its objective. |
I'm talking about both. Metroid Prime is barely one, and not the other. Metroid Prime is still rooted in a japanese franchise with what has now become niche. No amount of westernizing it making that franchise sell well in the west. Same with Other M. Aside from being utter garbage, no ammount of glossy eyes was goin to make that game sell in the west. It's foundation simply isn't. Uncharted is mainstream in the western market.
Since when are cutscenes a western game design phylosophy? Wasn't it Metal Gear Solid and Final Fantasy VII that popularized them to the cinematic degree that they've become? You're grasping.
