Slightly off topic:

I must admit my opinion of why I believe the Wii is doing so good and why the PS3 may have a chance at passing it or I might have a stroke, the beginning is obvious but read on.

Note: Don't take anything too seriously, this is just an analysis.

1.The price is a biggy obviously, looking at the PS3 which started off with over twice the price and still has about twice the price, is behind 2:1 to the Wii.

2. Games is another thing, the Wii has some amazing games out right now that appeal to traditional and casual gamers. The Wii also has the majority of their best games out from the looks of it. The PS3 doesn't have a single one of it's best hitters out yet. The ratio is still 2:1 though. How is this possible? Shouldn't the Wii be at least 3 or 4:1 over the PS3 like it was back in 2006?

The PS3 has had a lot of improvement since then, but almost all of it's games are multiplatform to the 360 which had the larger user base. The 360 and PS3 share many of the same interests in games as well conflicting which system a gamer of those tastes will buy. The RROD deal definitely helped the PS3, but at the same time the PS2 was hurting the PS3 as well. The PS3 had an extremely rocky year, but managed to turn 2007 into profit if just barely.

While the Wii has broken sales records, it's also the first system to have so many of it's best IP's out in such a short amount of time. I can't think of another console that put so many of it's best games out so fast. Obviously Nintendo wanted the lead, but was that really a wise thing for Ninty to do? Price drops seem to improve the PS3's sales very well. if the Wii drops to $200, will it sell substantially better? It's already obviously the most affordable system by far, so could price even effect people that don't find the Wii appealing? Nintendo wouldn't lose money if they dropped the Wii to $200, so what's stopping them?

The PS3 has gained a larger user base as well compared to when the Wii put out TP and a few other well known IP's when both systems first launched. This will increase the sales better percentage-wise for the PS3's big hitters.

I know the Wii still has some games ahead of it, but the Wii's image has already been made clear to gamers. many traditional gamers may be done at this point with the Wii if they didn't like SSBB, MP3, SMG, or TP because those were the games that got them to get a Wii in the first place. I'm keeping my Wii, but that doesn't mean every traditional gamer will if they didn't find SSBB, MP3, TP and SMG appealing. To answer your possible question, No, I love SSBB and SMG, but I was however disappointed with MP3 and TP.
